Horsehide and Brass Drop Point Bowie

$495.00Price
  • One of the first things James Behring taught me was that we make big knives “because they are FUN!” He was not wrong and that’s why it was only right to include one in my very first batch.

This blade is forged into shape from tip to tang from 1075 spring steel. It measures about 6 1/2” with a false edge up top, and my best representation of a Michael Price grind. Originally meant to be a chef knife, I put the thinner stock blade to a hell test just to see how easily it would break- but it wouldn’t. I chopped and split dry rounds, hacked at railroad ties, cut manila rope and chip tested the edge on a brass rod. No fail.

Having proven itself, I decided to reroute the plan and let it be the hard-use camper it wanted to be with a heavy brass bolster that is bullet-peened and soldered like a rock from the bottom. The leather stack handle includes gray fiber and coyote g10 accents that top a big brass ass that I filed out like a boot track for proper stomping, plus the brass is pinned with copper through the tang. 11 1/2" overall length.

    This knife is h e a v y m a c h i n e r y.

Sheath is intentionally designed for a reverse grip right hand ride. However, you can easily shift to the left on those days your 1911 belongs on the right.

Blade features a “penzo-damascus” finish and is engraved with my GC maker mark. Sheath is stamped with the Jolly Cunninghammer. Comes with a zipper case reading "G Cunningham Handmade First 10".
