Elk Horn and Willow Bow Sheep Caper
For years I have preferred smaller blade shapes- small, well-made knives in the hands of a knowledgable user can work miracles and this new Cunningham Custom Shop caper is no exception. I would put a month's worth of checks on a claim that this knife would beautifullly serve you through every task come elk camp.
The blade is forged from a 2" bar of 52100 ball bearing steel and measures in at 2 1/2" from tip to guard with a razor sharp 3D convex grind that tops a cozy finger-choke riccasso. The copper guard is milled, hand-filed, cold-forged and staked to the tang before the gaps got soldered from the underside. Lotta work in that little piece! The black, maroon, white and gray vulcanized fiber spacers collar a mirrored set of Willow Bow sheep spacers that top an elk antler handle. Overall length measures 6 3/8" and it comes in a custom leather belt pouch sheath. Maker's marks include "GC" on the blade and "Cunninghammer" on the sheath.
This knife is sold, but to order another similar please contact me at 406-561-6212 or email cunninghamcustomshop@gmail.com.
Maker's note: the straight lines visible in the steel are a product of mis-arranged steps of the first and second of three heat treat cycles. Upon discovery, we put these knives through the ringer tests and having still passed, completed the work. I guarantee my workmanship and your satisfaction.
